Inform. Inspire. Empower.

All children deserve a quality education and the opportunity to pursue their dreams. In 2023, 20 states expanded school choice. But 71% of parents say they want more information about the education options available for their children. It’s time to meet this demand. 

Navigate–the National School Choice Resource Center is a new 501(c)(3) public charity that works alongside the National School Choice Awareness Foundation (NSCAF), to inform, inspire, and empower parents to discover and navigate K–12 education options for their children. Navigate collaborates with NSCAF on the successful deployment of National School Choice Weekschoolchoiceweek.com, and Conoce tus Opciones Escolares (Know Your School Options). In addition, Navigate works to expand the impact of these programs through three new initiatives:

Building Comprehensive Parent Empowerment Campaigns, in partnership with local and state organizations, to increase parent awareness of education options by conducting state needs assessments, building toolkits for use by community organizations, developing state-focused websites for families, and launching parent-focused advertising and media campaigns.

Empowering Hispanic and Latino Families by developing and promoting new, large-scale Spanish-language school navigation resources for parents, building parent empowerment campaigns with local and state partners, and providing training so that local partners can deploy Spanish-language outreach campaigns. 

Launching the Parent Empowerment Pilot Fund to incubate the creation of family education empowerment programs in communities across America, and to provide funding so that small nonprofits and parent groups can deploy parent awareness activities, host events, and expand their capacities to better serve families.

Navigate’s mission is to inform, inspire, and empower parents across America to successfully discover, navigate, and access the K–12 school choice options and supplementary education programs that best meet their children’s interests, talents, needs, and challenges. 

Our Vision

Navigate’s work is oriented around an ambitious vision for a brighter, more prosperous, opportunity-filled, and more educated America in which all children and families have equal opportunities for success. Our specific goals are as follows:

For every parent in every community to have a broad and diverse array of quality choices for their children’s education and learning.
For every family to be informed, inspired, and empowered to choose the education that best meets their children’s interests, talents, needs, and challenges.
For every child to have equal access to a high-quality education that motivates them to learn, thrive, succeed, be happy, and pursue their dreams.
For every advocate or volunteer who seeks to support and empower families to be truly valued and respected and have access to financial support.
For every community to respect the benefits of choice and opportunity in education and build a robust support system that helps families navigate those choices.

Alissa Jacques

Manager, Digital Communications

Alissa Jacques serves as manager of digital communications at the National School Choice Awareness Foundation (NSCAF). In this role, Alissa oversees the organization’s English-language social media presence and develops high-impact advertising campaigns to inform, inspire, and empower parents about their K–12 education options.

Previously, Alissa owned her own digital marketing agency, served as an adjunct writing professor at Bloomfield College, and spent two years as an elementary school teacher at Democracy Preparatory Charter School in New York.

Alissa attended both public and private schools as a child, where she developed a love for creative writing. She holds a bachelor of arts in education policy and entrepreneurship from New York University, and a master of arts in sociology of education from Teachers College at Columbia University. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, scrolling through TikTok, and exploring NYC with her husband and cavapoo, Russ.
