We’re Hiring a Communications Coordinator!

The Communications Coordinator at the National School Choice Awareness Foundation, Inc. (NSCAF) plays a key role in supporting the organization’s three programs, National School Choice Week (NSCW), Navigate School Choice, and Conoce tus Opciones Escolares (CTOE). This position brings creativity and
attention to detail to the development of multimedia content, communications, and event support. The Communications Coordinator reports to NSCAF’s Vice President of Events and Program Services.

 

Primary responsibilities of this position include:

Content Development & Communications Support

  • Write, edit, and maintain descriptions for large-scale NSCW events for both internal and external use.

  • Create and regularly update web pages related to NSCW events.

  • Assist with op-ed research and drafting to promote NSCW.

  • Support organization-wide social media efforts, including content development, caption drafting, and community engagement.

  • Collect, edit, and organize visual collateral for email campaigns.

  • Assist in drafting email communications and campaigns.

 

Media & Public Relations Support

  • Support media operations during high-volume periods, including:
    • Assisting with seasonal pitch calls to local media stations

    • Assisting with the drafting of media advisories and batch press releases

    • Coordinating press release distribution across platforms

  • Conduct seasonal media clipping and tracking of NSCW media coverage.

  • Maintain and update media and communications contact lists across platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Cision, and internal systems).

 

Event & Program Support

  • Assist the Event Operations Manager with administrative tasks related to NSCW flagship events, including drafting event packets and partner advertising graphics.

  • Provide on-site support for NSCAF annual convenings, including event logistics, vendor coordination, and program committee support.

  • Assist with campaign content research and drafting for organizational mass communications across NSCAF’s charitable programs.

 

Project Coordination & Administrative Support

  • Manage gubernatorial proclamation requests and receivables; coordinate internally for distribution and public release.

  • Support cross-functional collaboration with internal teams to execute campaigns and initiatives.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred qualifications include experience in the following:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Experience supporting public awareness campaigns, nonprofit initiatives, or community-based events.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment with minimal supervision.

  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and relevant communications platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Cision).

  • Willingness and ability to travel 3-5 times per year.

Job Type: Full-time, hourly telecommuting position.

Pay: $24.00 – $26.00 per hour

Alissa Jacques Saint-Pierre is the Navigation Partnerships Manager at the National School Choice Awareness Foundation (NSCAF), where she builds partnerships that help families navigate their K-12 education options with clarity and confidence.

Over the past decade, she has worked as a classroom teacher, policy researcher, and strategic communicator, bringing a unique perspective on how families experience school choice. She is committed to creating student-centered systems that ensure young people are placed in schools where they feel safe, supported, and set-up for success.

In addition to her role at NSCAF, Alissa serves as the Board Chair of the National Association of Black Microschool Leaders (NABML) and on the Junior Board of Advocates for Children of New York.
